EVERETT — The Everett Silvertips dismissed head coach John Becanic on Friday.
Becanic was the head coach the past two seasons, after serving as an assistant the previous four. In his two seasons the Tips went 66-66-7-5, finishing fourth in the five-team U.S. Division both seasons and being knocked out in the first round of the playoffs. Everett just completed the 2008-09 season last Saturday, during which it went 27-36-7-2.
“The entire season has been a roller coaster ride,” Everett general manager Doug Soetaert said. “I thought it was time for the players to hear a different voice.”
