Silvertips give up 3-goal lead, fall to Chiefs in shootout

Everett allows three straight goals in the final period and drops the game to the Chiefs 4-3 in a shootout.

EVERETT — Spokane scored three straight third-period goals to tie the game, and the Chiefs came through in the shootout to beat the Everett Silvertips 4-3 on Friday night at Angel of the Winds Arena.

Everett jumped out to a 3-0 lead through the early third period on goals from Raphael Pelletier, Ben Hemmerling and Austin Roest.

But goals from Cade Hayes, Berkly Catton and Hayes again tied the game for Spokane with under 5 minutes to play and forced overtime.

After a scoreless extra period, the Chiefs outscored the Silvertips 4-3 in the shootout to earn the win.

Jesse Heslop had two assists and Tyler Palmer made 23 saves for Everett (27-23-2-1).

Cooper Michaluk stopped 47 of 50 shots in a terrific effort for Spokane (11-35-2-4).
