PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Niko Huuhtanen and Alex Swetlikoff each netted two goals, including two crucial late scores, and the Everett Silvertips opened the second half of their schedule with a 6-5 overtime victory over the Prince George Cougars.
Huuhtanen tied the game at 5-5 on an unassisted goal at the 11:12 mark of the third period. Swetlikoff hit the game-winner in overtime, assisted by Huuhtanen and Aidan Sutter.
The late goals came after Everett (22-6-2-1, 47 points) allowed three straight scores to fall behind 5-4 midway through the third.
Kyan Grouette and Roan Woodward each added goals for the Silvertips. Huuhtanen and Ty Gibson paced Everett with two assists each.
Koehn Ziemmer, Jaren Brinson, Ethan Samson, Riley Heidt and Blake Eastman had one goal each for Prince George (13-16-0-0, 26).
Silvertips goaltender Braden Holt stopped 32 of 37 shots in a winning effort. Cougars netminder Ty Young had 27 saves on 33 chances.
