EVERETT — In a hard-fought preseason battle ending in a shootout, the Tri-City Americans defeated the Everett Silvertips 4-3 in a preseason game on Friday night at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett.
Each of the game’s six regulation goals were produced on power plays, a result of the 18 penalties between both teams. A scoreless five-minute overtime sent the game into a shootout.
Reece Vitelli struck first with a goal 2:12 into the first period. Tri-City forward Parker AuCoin answered shortly after with a goal assisted by Issac Johnson at 3:20. A Bryce Kindopp goal closed out the first period with assists from Connor Dewar and Riley Sutter.
Tri-City’s Paycen Bjorklund started the second period with a goal assisted by Johnson. Between Bjorklan’s first appearance on the board and a Connor Bouchard goal with 7:25 remaining, both teams tallied a combined seven penalties.
Everett defenseman Wyatte Wylie netted the game-tying goal halfway through the third period with the help of Sutter and Dewar, who connected on the assist for the second time of the night.
Tri-City went two-for-four in the shootout, with goals scored by Nolan Yaremko and Sasha Mutala, topping Bryce Kindopp’s lone shootout goal.
