Silvertips recall Wylie, and Dawson Leedahl Qs It Up

The Everett Silvertips had the day off Monday so there isn’t a ton to report. One thing of note is that 16-year-old prospect Wyatte Wylie was recalled from the Dallas Stars U-16 team and is listed as wearing No. 29 on the active roster.

Wylie, of course, is the first Everett Youth Hockey player drafted and signed by the Silvertips and that’s a big deal. He attended Arlington High School last year before heading to Dallas, and I presume he’ll return to Arlington High now that he’s back in Snohomish County.

Of note:

– Wylie’s older brother, Wade, plays for the Great Falls (Mont.) Americans who won the NA3HL’s Frontier Division and reached the semifinals of the NA3HL’s Silver Cup playoffs. The Americans lost to the Michigan Metro Jets in the semis, who then went on to fall to the North Iowa Bulls in the championship.

The North Iowa Bulls, you might recall, have one Sean Mallonee on their roster. Mallonee, a Kennewick native, played in four games with the Silvertips this season and was the first EYH player to play for the Silvertips, though he was undrafted.

Why do I know all this? Because my only previous hockey experience prior to covering the Silvertips was the handful of games I spent freezing in the Great Falls IcePlex while working for the Great Falls Tribune. (Also, my good friend Tom Wylie is the sports director at KRTV in Great Falls. As far as he knows, he is not related to the hockey Wylies).

Getting back on the rails:

– Colleague Andy Eide has this early look at the upcoming Seattle-Everett playoff series that begins Friday in Ken

– Dawson Leedahl appeared on Q It Up Sports with Aaron Levine on Q-13 Fox Sunday night:
