For Immediate Release from Evergreen Speedway
Pawn X-change night on July 11 at Evergreen Speedway had an intense night of racing using 3 different tracks. There was something for everyone.
The Speedway Chevrolet Super Late Models had the task of running the big 5/8’s mile oval in what some drivers expected to be here for the 500 on July 25th were using as a test and tune session. Newcomer Tyler Allen, in his first Evergreen race, was very excited about running on the big track. John Burtsche was another one of the newcomers for this season, has raced numerous times here and was excited to be back. Mike Holden, also on hand, was quoted as saying that he has some work to do and will be back.
In the end of the late model race it was Naima Lang followed by Natalie Sather and her team mate Jeff Knight. Tom Moriarty, who ran very well early in the race, finished 4th and Tom Hughes 5th. Post race, Lang’s engine was taken to be dyno checked. Lang was not worried of the pending outcome of the test and happily obliged the officials.
The Foster Press Mini Stocks race had a lot of thrill and spills. With a full field to start the race only a hand full finished. Nat Barber, who has had his ups and downs this season, took home the trophy. Kris Harriss finished 2nd and Scott LaCross rounded out the top 3.
In the Les Schwab Tires Street Stocks. Hard charging and door to door racing made for an exciting race on the 3/8’s oval. In the end Casey Branch finished with the win, 2 time winner from this season Darrel Lutovsky finished 2nd and the youngster Dave Stewart Jr. finished 3rd.
On to the figure 8 track. The dangerous intersection that has provided fans for years with extreme hits and jaw dropping near misses once again made for thrills and awes. In the title Sponsored Pawn X-change super figure eights, crashes, black flags and hard driving end up with Troy Siminar on top, Dave Brandenburg 2nd and Shane Sawin 3rd.
The ever popular stinger 8 division had many time champion Steve Peters come out on top, Jessica Gray 2nd and Josh Young finishing in 3rd. Points leader Seth Funden finished 4th and JJ Edwards rounded out the top 5.
