The Everett Elite Flag Football 14-under team isn’t the only Snohomish County squad headed to the NFL FLAG Bowl.
The Snohomish Cardinals 12U team may have taken a more circuitous route to Las Vegas, but the Cardinals will also be flying the county’s flag at the national championships this weekend at the Pro Bowl.
The Cardinals, who are based out of the Snohomish Boys and Girls Club and went undefeated in their league for the second straight year, finished second in the 12U open division at the Seattle Open on Oct. 30 in Tacoma, falling to the Las Vegas-based APEX Predators in the championship game. Therefore, the Predators earned the region’s berth to the FLAG Bowl.
However, the Cardinals searched for other NFL FLAG tournaments and decided to enter a regional tournament in Phoenix for recreational teams, where the teams are limited to those affiliated with Boys and Girls Clubs and other community programs. Snohomish ended up being the only team to sign up in the 12U recreational division and therefore received an automatic berth to the FLAG Bowl.
The Cardinals are comprised of Parker May, Matt Kowalski, Cooper Thompson, Harvey LeRoux, Reve LeRoux, Carson Koehler, Ryder Anderson, Jackson Dammann, Wyatt McKinney and Grant McAllister. They are coached bu Kelven May and Brian McKinney.
