The Snohomish baseball team plans to honor former coach Kim Hammons prior to Friday’s 4 p.m. home game against Edmonds-Woodway.
The Panthers are asking all alumni who played under Hammons to arrive at 3:30 p.m. and line up down the third-base line for a special pregame ceremony. Hammons will throw out the first pitch and take part in a large group photo behind home plate.
Hammons, known to many as “Skip,” stepped down last summer after coaching his alma mater for 25 seasons.
Hammons posted a career record of 385-209 (.648 winning percentage), which places him among the winningest high school baseball coaches in state history. He guided the Panthers to 10 state-tournament appearances, including state titles in 1998 and 2008 and a runner-up finish in 2007.
Hammons was a 2007 inductee into the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame.
