EVERETT – In a clash of two high-powered offenses, it was ultimately the glovework, or lack thereof, that decided Friday’s Wesco North game.
Cascade entered the game averaging more than 12 runs per contest and Snohomish was averaging almost nine runs a game. But five unearned runs in the third inning for the visiting Panthers led to a 9-5 Snohomish win.
“It was uncharacteristic of us,” Cascade coach Pat Opel said of his team’s five, third-inning errors. “We misplayed balls in the outfield. We misplayed balls in the infield. It was just real frustrating.”
Senior catcher Kyle Hennessey led the way for Snohomish, batting 2-for-4 with a double.
The big bat for Cascade was swung by junior David Benson, who hit a towering two-run triple in the second inning.
