Snohomish forward Madeline Smith has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete at Montana State University after her senior year with the Panthers.
A 6-foot-1 forward, Smith averaged 15.2 points, 10.1 rebounds and two blocks per game as a junior for Snohomish, which won a 4A District 1 title and made it to the regional round of the state tournament a year ago. She was the Wesco 4A player of the year and a first-team Herald all-area selection.
Smith’s Panthers teammate, and fellow senior, Madison Pollock also signed an NLI with the University of San Diego.
“Madeline is a strong, gritty and skilled post that outworks her opponents while wearing them down,” MSU head coach Tricia Binford said in a statement. “She’s a perfect fit for our offense, where our posts can stretch defenses, as well as attack you in the paint. I love her mentality, her work ethic and we’re excited to have her as a Bobcat.”
Smith will join former Wesco standout Margreet Barhoum, who played at Meadowdale, at Montana State.
