EVERETT — Local soccer legends Pete Fewing and Marcus Hahnemann will be among those present when Angel of the Winds Arena hosts a Copa America watch party next Thursday in the facility’s Octane Lounge.
The watch party will be for the U.S. men’s national team’s game against Panama. Doors open at 2:30 p.m., with the game kicking off at 3 p.m.
Fewing is one of the most accomplished soccer coaches in Pacific Northwest history. He was the head coach of Seattle University’s men’s team for 28 years, guiding the Redhawks to an NAIA national championship in 1997 and a NCAA Division II national championship in 2004.
Hahnemann was a goalkeeper who earned nine caps with the U.S. men’s national team between 1994 and 2011, including being a member of America’s 2006 and 2010 World Cup squad. His 20-year professional career included stints with the Seattle Sounders, as well as English Premier League teams Reading and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Fewing and Hahnemann are ambassadors for the Seattle World Cup organizing team. The U.S. is one of the host countries for the 2026 World Cup, and Seattle’s Lumen Field will be the site of six games.
