Seattle Mariners pitcher Rafael Soriano was in stable condition in the intensive care unit at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Wednesday morning.
Soriano was hit behind his right ear by a line drive off the bat of Angels slugger Vladimir Guerrero in the eighth inning of Tuesday night’s game.
Dr. Edward Khalfayan, a Mariners team physician, said Soriano had a followup CT scan early Wednesday morning. The scan showed “no worsening of his condition,” Khalfayan said.
The Mariners hoped to learn more about Soriano’s condition later Wednesday after an examination by a neurosurgeon.
