Major League Soccer on Thursday announced the 34-game 2012 schedule for Seattle Sounders FC.
The schedule includes 12 matches that will be televised nationally by either ESPN or NBC Sports Network.
The Sounders open the 2012 season March 17 against Toronto FC, the fourth straight year Seattle has opened the MLS season at home. After three straight home games, the Sounders play their first road contest on April 7 at D.C. United.
Fourteen of the Sounders’ 17 home matches will be played at night. Eight home dates are on Saturdays, four on Sundays, four on Wednesdays and one on Friday.
The final home game is Oct. 21 against FC Dallas. Seattle’s regular-season concludes Oct. 28 at Los Angeles
Seattle’s travel distance in 2012 will be reduced by an estimated 18.5 percent from last season, the team said in a press release. Sounders FC logged an estimated 50,582 miles in 2011, compared to 41,220 for this upcoming season.
