Oops! I tweeted about this game and wrote the blurb for tomorrow’s paper, but completely forgot to blog about it. So for those of you who didn’t check earlier, here’s the box score from today’s preseason game.
Everett beat Spokane 5-1 when the teams played last weekend in Everett. However, this was a completely different story. In last weekend’s game the Tips fielded a pretty veteran lineup against a Chiefs team filled with rookies. Everett sat several vets today, but so did Spokane, so I’d say the relative strength of the two teams was about even. And Spokane had its way with Everett, outshooting the Tips 36-22, including 17-2 in the second period, so Everett still has some things to work on.
Andy Desautels went the distance in goal for the Tips, stopping 32 of 36. Of course, not seeing the game in person I have no idea how well he really played and whether he helped or hurt himself in the battle for Everett’s second goaltending spot.
