EVERETT — Todd McDonald hit a three-run home run in the second inning to lead the Spokane Indians to an 8-7 win over the Everett AquaSox in Northwest League baseball action Sunday.
The home run by McDonald drove in Seth Spivey and Chad Smith to give the Indians a 3-2 lead.
Trailing 7-5, the AquaSox tied the game in the eighth inning when Dimas Ojeda hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Joe Venturino.
The Indians took the lead for good in the ninth when Anderson Tejeda hit an RBI single, bringing home Leody Taveras.
Johan Juan (2-2) got the win in relief for Spokane. Thomas Burrows (0-1) took the loss. Spokane’s Garrett Brummett retired the side in order in the ninth for his first save of the season.
The AquaSox, who have clinched the NWL North Division’s second-half championship, complete their regular-season Monday with an afternoon game at Everett Memorial Stadium. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m.
The same two teams open a best-of-three first-round NWL playoff series Wednesday in Everett.
