Stanwood breaks tie for third in North

LAKE STEVENS – Stanwood broke a tie for third place in the Western Conference North with a 5-2 victory over Lake Stevens Friday.

Spartan freshman Zach Tafoya came back from a first-set loss to win at No. 1 singles and teammate Darrell Emnott won a first-set tiebreaker 10-8 en route to a straight-sets win at No. 3 singles.

The Spartans put the meet away with a three-set win by Alex Merrick and Kevin Sutherland at No. 2 doubles.

At Lake Stevens

Lakeside 3, Cleveland 0: At Seattle, Lakeside won 25-15, 25-13, 25-11 to boost its record to 3-0 overall. Lakeside’s Hanna Curtis had nine assists and five aces and Kate Okrasinski hit four kills, had three digs and three blocks. Genesis Veglitone had three aces and Roxanne Tone had two kills and one dig for Cleveland (0-2).
