Stanwood inches closer to district playoffs

STANWOOD – The Stanwood Spartans inched closer to clinching a 4A district playoff berth by thumping Marysville-Pilchuck 73-58 in a Western Conference North Division contest Friday night.

Stanwood (8-4 in league and 10-6 overall) built a commanding 55-33 lead after three quarters cruising to victory.

“We came out and executed well tonight,” said Stanwood coach Nate DuChesne.

Daes Kaufman led the way for the Spartans with 24 points, including three 3-pointers and Chris Boser added 15 points and seven rebounds.

“We came ready to play tonight,” DuChesne said.

Jared Stohl paced Marysville-Pilchuck (5-8, 5-12) with 23 points, including five 3-point field goals.
