TACOMA — Cory Mattson did it all for the Everett High School fastpitch softball team on Friday afternoon.
Mattson threw a one-hitter, struck out 13 batters, and added an RBI triple in the Seagulls’ 2-0 win over Southridge in a Class 3A tournament game. Everett (16-4) faces Liberty (13-8) in a quarterfinal game at 5 p.m. Friday.
Mattson struck out the first six batters she faced, and she recorded all nine putouts in the first three innings.
In the bottom of the fourth, she drove in teammate Alexandra Hudson with a triple to right-centerfield. Tessa Fox, who came in to pinch-run for Mattson, scored on a groundout on the next at-bat.
Mattson had a no-hitter going until Southridge singled in the top of the sixth.
