The National Lacrosse League on Wednesday recognized a pair of Washington Stealth players for their performances Saturday in the team’s 18-10 victory over Edmonton.
Forward Lewis Ratcliff was named the NLL’s Offensive Player of the Week, and defenseman Mike Grimes was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week.
Ratcliff, a 2011 NLL All-Star, collected four goals and five assists in the win. With the nine-point effort he moved into a tie with Dan Dawson of Boston for the league lead in points this season with 61 (23 goals, 38 assists). Ratcliff ranks second in the league in assists.
Grimes, also a 2011 All-Star, tallied two goals and an assist and also collected 11 loose balls in the win over the Rush. He leads all NLL defenseman with 14 points (seven goals, seven assists), equaling his career-high. His seven goals are tops in the league for a defensemen this season.
