For the second time this season the Storm face the Minnesota Lynx — the first matchup is something the Storm would like to erase from memory. The Lynx came into Seattle on June 9 and handed the Storm their first loss in 23 consecutive regular season or playoff games at KeyArena. The Lynx didn’
;t just win — they dominated — scoring the games’ first 22 points en route to an 81-74 victory.
Minnesota is off to the best start in franchise history at 5-1. Since losing its first game to the Los Angeles Sparks, the Lynx have reeled off five straight wins.
Getting revenge on the Lynx might be a tough task for the Storm. Lauren Jackson suffered a strained left hip in Sunday’s 82-77 win over Tulsa. It is unknown if Jackson will be able to play tonight.
Jackson is averaging 9.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game this season, well below her averages from a year ago.
Point guard Sue Bird and forward Swin Cash have been picking up the offensive responsibilities for the Storm (3-2). Bird is averaging 17 points and 5.2 assists per game, while Cash is 13.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
The Lynx are balanced and potent offensively. They have four players averaging over 13 points per game — Seimone Augustus (15.3), Rebekkah Brunson (14.5), rookie Maya Moore (13.8) and Lindsay Whalen (13.2).
Brunson is also averaging a WNBA best 13.3 rebounds per game – scoring and rebounding would be an easier chore for Brunson if Jackson is unable to go for Seattle.
