The Seattle Storm have to be happy to see the Tulsa Shock tonight. Seattle played its best game of the season on Thursday night at KeyArena, demolishing the Shock 101-74, led by Lauren Jackson, who scored 23 points in just 14 minutes.
Jackson’s performance was a welcome sight for the Storm. Since her return to the team after the WNBA’s month-long hiatus for the Olympics she has struggled to fit in with the team offensively. Thursday night she found her groove, making nine of her 12 shot attempts.
The Storm topped 100 points for the fifth time in franchise history and shot a team record 59.2 percent from the field.
More important, with the win, Seattle inched closer to locking up the fourth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference. The Storm can all but wrap up that spot with a victory tonight.
In order for the Storm to win they will have to slow down the Shock’s balanced offense, which boasts four players who score in double figures. The guard combination of Ivory Latta, who averages 13.9 points per game, and Tameka Johnson, who averages 12.1 points and five assists, leads the way for the Shock, who currently sit in last place in the Western Conference.
