Business certainly picked up in the second quarter. Both teams improved offensively and the Storm lead 37-30 at halftime.
The Storm shot 8-for-15 from the field in the second quarter led by Tanisha Wright, who knocked down two of her four shots and leads the team with 11 points at halftime. Lauren Jackson had two critical “and ones” in the second quarter and goes into the locker room with 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the field. Jackson has scored 10 points in 12 minutes as she continues to be extremely efficient on the offensive side of the basketball.
The Sparks on the other hand aren’t far behind. Los Angeles improved to shoot 7-for-16 in the second quarter — not quite the improvement that the Storm had, but close. Ticha Penecheiro leads the Sparks with 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting. Ebony Hoffman has scored nine points on three 3s for Los Angeles.
Now that both teams have their offenses going, we should be in for an exciting second half at the Key in this Western Conference battle with playoff implications.
