The lower Columbia mainstem from near Cathlamet downstream is scheduled to remain open for white sturgeon retention through June 30, and last week’s sampling showed significant fishing pressure. Just under 200 private boats were counted Friday, and 400 on Saturday, including four charters Friday and nine on Saturday.
Boat anglers in the Columbia estuary averaged 1.11 legal fish kept per boat.
