There’s another slate of big high school football games this week.
I’m going to cover an interesting Wesco 3A matchup: Meadowdale (3-1 Wesco, 4-2 overall) at Everett (3-1, 4-1). The Mavericks are coming off a 28-3 win over Shorewood, while Everett had a bye last week and is itching, I’m sure, to play again. The Seagulls should be extra motivated because it’s their homecoming.
Meadowdale and Everett are both on the watch list in the Tacoma News Tribune’s Class 3A state football rankings. One local team (5-1 Glacier Peak) is ranked in 3A, while no local teams are top-10 ranked in 4A. Unbeaten Archbishop Murphy (6-0) remains No. 1 in 2A and undefeated King’s (6-0) stays at No. 3 in 1A.
If you haven’t figured out which game you’re going to watch Friday night, you might consider going to Everett Memorial Stadium. Before the Meadowdale-Everett game kicks off at 8 p.m., Jackson (3-3) plays 4A top-ranked Skyline at 5 p.m. Skyline’s star player, of course, is University of Washington wide receiver recruit Kasen Williams.
