Mill Creek, Wash., resident Tayler Malsam will not attempt his second NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start at Atlanta this weekend. I spoke to Malsam today and he told me the decision not to race at Atlanta was made by CHS Motorsports, the team he is driving for.
CHS is a division of Cunningham Motorsports, the team Malsam drove for in the ARCA RE/MAX Series this year. CHS is in its first season racing in the NASCAR truck series.
Malsam, who is originally from Sammamish, finished 9th overall in his rookie season in the ARCA series.
Malsam made his NASCAR and truck series debut in August at Bristol, where he finished 36th after cutting a tire and wrecking. He just missed last weekend’s race at Martinsville, driving 37th quickest in trying to qualify for the 36-truck field.
