Remi Laurencelle snapped out of his scoring slump in a big way Saturday.

Remi Laurencelle made his on-camera debut (or so he claimed) following his two-goal performance in Saturday’s 4-3 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds:

The Game

The Everett Silvertips found a perfect tonic to stop a slide yet again: a game against the Seattle Thunderbirds.

On Oct. 24 the Tips beat Seattle 2-0 to stop a two-game losing streak. On Jan. 30 Everett’s 2-1 nailbiter stopped a three-game skid.

While the Tips entered Saturday’s game with just a loss on Friday, Everett had dropped four of its previous five.

Saturday night the Tips found a way against the T-Birds yet again as Laurencelle scored with 16 seconds to go thanks to a weird bounce that sent the puck to his linemate Carson Stadnyk. Laurencelle received the pass from Stadnyk and converted the sharp angle shot to give the Tips their sixth win over the second-place T-Birds in seven tries this season.

Everett (34-20-2-2, 72 points) moved five points up on Seattle (32-23-3-0, 67 points) in the standings after the T-Birds entered the game with a chance to move within one.

Tips head coach Kevin Constantine mentioned the role the crowd played in giving the Tips energy, and defenseman Noah Juulsen agreed, saying:

“They got us going tonight. There were a lot of people in the building tonight and I think they got us going and kept us in the game.”

Laurencelle scored twice while Stadnyk had a goal and an assist as the Tips’ top line combined for four points. It was telling, however, that rookie Connor Dewar, filling in on that line for the injured Dawson Leedahl, earned second star honors.

“Connor was good complement too,” Constantine said. “He had some huge shot blocks so I thought that line did a nice job for us.”

The Turning Point

Laurencelle scored the game-winner off a feed from Stadnyk with 16 seconds to go.

Three Stars

1. Everett D Noah Juulsen: The Montreal first-rounder had two assists and was plus-1 for the night.

2. Everett F Connor Dewar: The 16-year-old was plus-two as he jumped up to the first line alongside Stadnyk and Laurencelle.

3. Seattle F Ryan Gropp: Gropp had a goal and an assist for the Thunderbirds.

Honorable mention: Everett F Carson Stadnyk (one goal, one assist, plus-2) and Everett F Remi Laurencelle (two goals, plus-2), Seattle F Ethan Bear (one goal, one assist).

Note: The Three Stars are collected midway through the third period. Since the Silvertips often don’t decide games until late in the third period, the Stars don’t always reflect how the game ended. This is one such instance.
