Thoughts on Week 16

It’s likely championship week, or at the very least the semifinals, for anyone still playing fantasy football. Here’s my quick thoughts for this weekend’s games.

Oh and Merry Christmas to all!

I don’t think I’d trust Peyton Manning to play all four quarters this Sunday. Expect the Jets to bring the house early and often and force Colts coach Jim Caldwell to sit Manning to protect his franchise quarterback. Hopefully if you had Manning you backed him up with somebody like Brett Favre or Vince Young.

Don’t expect Jerome Harrison to pull another 286-yard performance, but he should have a nice day against the Raiders. I’d say 125 total yards and a score.

Believe in Ray Rice. I expect the Ravens running back to have a big day against a porous Steelers defense that is a shell of its former glory.

Ahmad Bradshaw has been getting a lot of carries lately, including goalline carries (he had two touchdowns last Monday night against the Redskins) and he should continue to get big carries. With Carolina’s poor rush defense coming to town Sunday, play Bradshaw in a flex spot with confidence.

49ers TE Vernon Davis had one os his worst games of the year last Sunday, but don’t expect him to be down for long. Davis should have a big game against the lowly Lions.

Saints QB Drew Brees hasn’t been his usually explosive self over the past couple of weeks, but expect him to go for 300/3 this Sunday against the Bucs. But you were going to play him anyway, right?

Play every Packer. The Seahawks just gave up big yardage to Josh Freeman and the Bucs.

Falcons RB Michael Turner says he’s going to try and play the final two games of the season. But don’t trust him to put up big numbers. He’s been out four weeks now and you know the Falcons will ease him back into circulation. You’ve gotten along without him so far, keep trotting out the replacement.

The Cardinals still have a shot at the No. 2 playoff spot, so play Kurt Warner, Beanie Wells, Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin with confidence.

Colts wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez was thought to be in line to return this Sunday, but he didn’t practice on Wednesday and is unlikely to play. Not that you would have played him, but if he had played it could have meant an even earlier benching for Reggie Wayne.

Broncos running back Correll Buckhalter is supposed to return his Sunday, which could mean 8-10 less carries for Knowshon Moreno, who has been getting the lion’s share over the past four weeks.

We’ll that’s good for now. I’ll post updates as I think of them.
