Tips charts 1: WHLers in the NHL

This series of charts is about WHLers in the NHL.

Which WHL teams have the most alumni currently playing regularly in the NHL? To determine if a player was established in the NHL a minimum of 40 games played during the 2016-17 season was set. Players were assigned to the team for which they appeared in the most WHL games. Teams with equal numbers of NHLers were ordered by total combined NHL games by those players in 2016-17:

WHL team NHLers
Kelowna 12
Portland 11
Calgary 9
Brandon 8
Red Deer 8
Moose Jaw 7
Vancouver 6
Medicine Hat 6
Spokane 5
Lethbridge 4
Prince George 4
Swift Current 4
Kamloops 4
Seattle 4
Kootenay 4
Prince Albert 3
Saskatoon 3
Victoria/Chilliwack 2
Tri-City 2
Everett 2
Regina 1
Edmonton 1

By this measure Everett ranks 20th out of the WHL’s 22 teams.

However, there remain a number of players in the NHL whose time in the WHL predated Everett’s entry into the league, so that skews the data against the Tips, as well as against Victoria/Chilliwack and Edmonton, who entered the league after Everett and are ranked similarly low. If players who were full-time WHLers prior to the 2003-04 season are removed, the list looks like this:

WHL team NHLers
Kelowna 7
Calgary 7
Portland 7
Brandon 6
Vancouver 6
Red Deer 6
Spokane 5
Swift Current 4
Moose Jaw 4
Medicine Hat 4
Seattle 3
Kootenay 3
Prince Albert 2
Lethbridge 2
Victoria/Chilliwack 2
Everett 2
Saskatoon 2
Tri-City 1
Regina 1
Edmonton 1
Prince George 1
Kamloops 0

After making this adjustment Everett ranks 16th among the WHL’s 22 teams.

Finally, here’s the master list of WHLers who played at least 40 games in the NHL during in 2016-17. Included are the years they played for their listed WHL team, which NHL team they played for this season, the number of games they played in the NHL this season, and their stats (goals-assists-points for skaters; record, goals against average, save percentage for goaltenders). This list is unofficial, so it’s possible I missed someone:
