The Silvertips held their exit meetings with the players today, and I’ll be having year-end wrap-up stories in the paper throughout the weekend. I’ll also get my year-end blog series started early next week.
There was some news today about players who are headed to the pro ranks now that Everett’s season is done:
– Defenseman Josh Caron is the only Everett player who has already signed a pro contract. He’ll likely be headed off to join the Minnesota Wild’s farm system.
– Winger Josh Birkholz and goaltender Kent Simpson both have been drafted by NHL teams, but have yet to sign. Both are negotiating with their NHL teams — Birkholz with Florida, Simpson with Chicago — and could also finish off the season in the minors.
– Two undrafted Everett players are getting their chance, too. Winger Ryan Harrison was invited to join Lake Erie of the AHL, while defenseman Brennan Yadlowski was invited to join Colorado of the ECHL.
