Everett announced the signing of forward Jari Erricson to a WHL education contract this afternoon.
Erricson was Everett’s second-round pick (29th overall) in this year’s bantam draft. The 15-year-old from Prince George, B.C., impressed the Tips during training camp with the way he buzzed around the ice, as well as his willingness to go to the front of the net, despite being matched up against bigger and older players. Erricson, who is too young to play for the Tips this season, was reassigned Sunday the week.
Erricson’s signing is Everett’s second from this year’s bantam draft, joining first rounder and eighth-overall selection Nicholas Walters. It also gives the Tips one top-end forward and one top-end defenseman committed to the team’s future from the age group.
