This morning the Tips announced they signed goaltender Andy Desautels to a WHL education contract. The 15-year-old from White City, Saskatchewan, was Everett’s fifth-round pick in the 2009 bantam draft.
After an impressive showing during training camp in August, Desautels appeared in line to be Everett’s goalie of the future. This signing reinforces that notion. He currently plays for the Regina Pat Canadians in the SMAAAHL, where he is 7-8-2 with a 3.59 goals against average and .884 save percentage. Those numbers are better than they appear as the Pat Canadians haven’t been particularly strong this season.
