TORONTO — Danny Dichio’s first goal of the season gave Toronto FC a 1-0 victory over Kansas City on Sunday, ending the Wizards’ unbeaten run at four games.
Goaltender Stefan Frei recorded his second consecutive shutout as Toronto (3-2-2) moved one point ahead of Kansas City (3-3-1) and Chicago and into first place in the Eastern Conference.
It was the first game for Toronto after coach John Carver’s sudden resignation Saturday. Assistant Chris Cummins served as interim coach Sunday.
