Unbeaten Lake Stevens wins fifth straight meet

LAKE STEVENS – The Lake Stevens Vikings used six pins and six straight wins to close out a 62-15 Wesco North win over Cascade Thursday night at Cascade High School.

Lake Stevens remained unbeaten this season, winning its fifth straight meet and fourth Wesco North meet.

Kyle Johnson got things rolling for the Vikings with a win at 171 pounds.

Johnson was trailing 7-1 against Cascade’s Andrew Walt before pinning Walt with 33 seconds remaining in the match.

Cascade’s Khai Tran picked up a win in his first match of the year. Tran scored a 10-8 decision over Lake Steven’s Alex Walkley.

“Tran wrestled real smart. He pulled out the reversal in the last 30 seconds and rode the guy out,” Cascade coach Todd Freeman said.
