Nice win tonight for the Huskies and a heck of a show for the fans. Washington is now 2-0 in Pac-10 play for the first time since 2005, and has won nine in a row—the team’s longest streak since starting 11-0 in 2005-2006.
Jon Brockman’s game winner—which somewhat surprisingly was the first of his UW career—gave the senior forward a happy ending to a rough second half. After making seven of 14 field goals in the first half, he started the second half zero for six before making the game-winner.
As a result, Brockman was in a good mood after the game and had some good one-liners.
Asked about the game winner, he said: “I got a good read on it and they took the lid off the basket for me and it went in.”
And his second-half shooting woes?
“I was just trying to pad my rebounds.”
He also talked about an 80-footer he hit against Mount Vernon to win a game his senior year at Snohomish, and when asked if he banked it in or not, he said:
“It went right it. I’m pretty good from back there.”
