Vikings roll into district

LAKE STEVENS – The Lake Stevens girls basketball team clinched a 4A District 1 playoff berth with a 59-42 Wesco North win over Oak Harbor on Friday night at Lake Stevens High School.

Brittany Tri (13 points) had eight quick points in the first quarter and her sister Karissa Tri (11 points) had two big 3s to help the Vikings get out to a 21-8 lead after the first quarter.

“We got off to a really quick start and moved the ball real well inside and outside,” Lake Stevens coach Randy Edens said.

The Wildcats tried to make a run in the fourth quarter by hitting 3-pointers, pulling with in 10 points, but could get no closer.

“This was probably our best all-around game this season,” Edens said.

Ashley Housden had a double-double for the Vikes with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Teammate Leah Tate had eight assists and no turnovers.

Chelsea Drivstuen scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Kayla Wangner added 14 points and 11 boards for the Bearcats. Quinn Kesselring led the Eagles with 10 points.

It will be the Thunderbirds’ first appearance in seven years. Abby Butler and Jennifer Quick each had 10 points for Edmonds-Woodway.
