Mia Cienega | Everett | Girls Wrestling
Cienega, a sophomore, won all three of her matches by pin on her way to the 235-pound title at the Yelm Jump On In Tournament on Dec. 2. Her run included pinning Spanaway Lake’s Tai-Elisab Henry, ranked sixth in the state in the weight class by Washington Wrestling Report, in 37 seconds in the title match.
Peter Grimm | Shorecrest | Boys Wrestling
Grimm, a senior, earned a 9-4 decision over Fife’s Keegan Hirata to win the 165-pound weight class at the Mariner Holiday Wrestling Tournament on Dec. 2. Grimm also picked up wins via pinfall during the Scots’ dual meets with Cascade and Everett on Nov. 30.
Jesse Lewis | Lake Stevens | Football
Lewis, a senior, caught two TD passes and played a key role defensively in slowing down Graham-Kapowsin standout receiver Malachi Durant in the Vikings’ 31-6 win over the Eagles in the Class 4A state title game on Dec. 2. Lewis finished with 103 yards on four receptions.
Samara Morrow | Arlington | Girls Basketball
Morrow, a senior, poured in a game-high 38 points and dished out 10 assists for a double-double in the Eagles’ come-from-behind 75-71 win over Lake Stevens on Nov. 27.
Yurii Onofriichuk | Cascade | Boys Swim & Dive
Onofriichuk, a senior, claimed victories in three different individual events and a relay over two meets for the Bruins. He won the 100 backstroke, 200 individual medley and was a member of the Cascade’s victorious 200 freestyle relay team against Lynnwood on Nov. 28. He also won the 500 freestyle in a meet against Lake Stevens on Nov. 30.
Willie Sears | Archbishop Murphy | Boys Basketball
Sears, a sophomore, made the game-winning 3-pointer with less than 1 second remaining as the Wildcats won their season opener 56-53 over Lakeside (Seattle) on Nov. 29. Sears hit four 3-pointers and finished with 13 points.
