Vote for The Herald’s Prep Athlete of the Week for Feb. 9-15

The Athlete of the Week nominees for Feb. 9-15. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced with the next poll and in next Wednesday’s paper.

Kamryn Mason | Lake Stevens girls wrestling

The Lake Stevens junior needed just 37 seconds to pin her opponent in 110-pound division title bout Feb. 7 at the 4A District 1 tournament and also won her quarterfinal and semifinal matches with pins. Mason won The Herald’s Athlete of the Week for Feb. 2-8 by claiming 291 (49.83%) of the 584 votes.

This week’s nominees

Torsten Hokanson | Snohomish boys swimming

Hokanson set 3A District 1 meet records in both the 50 and 100 freestyle races and anchored the Panthers’ 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams to meet records on Feb. 15.

Halle Keller | Monroe girls basketball

The senior’s driving layup in the final second as part of her 17-point, 9-rebound night led the Bearcats to a road upset of Meadowdale on Feb. 14.

Leyton Martin | Arlington boys basketball

The senior point guard recorded triple-double (29 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists) in the Eagles’ Feb. 15 win over Bothell in loser-out District 1-2 playoff game.

Cassie Chesnut | Shorecrest girls basketball

The senior scored 28 points and pulled down 18 rebounds in a Feb. 14 win over rival Shorewood in a district playoff contest.

Jimmy Conklin | Lakewood boys wrestling

Conklin dominated at the 2A District 1 tournament, pinning his first two opponents in 19 seconds and 49 seconds before recording his third pin in 1 minute, 35 seconds in the title bout.
