SEATTLE — Michelle Augustavo scored 15 points and was one of five Washington players in double figures as the Huskies routed Seattle University 82-56 Friday in the Husky Classic.

Augustavo scored all her points from 3-point range, hitting 5 of 7 from behind the arc. Kristi Kingma and Sami Whitcomb added 11 points apiece, and Laura McLellan had 10 for the Huskies.

Washington’s Mollie Williams had 10 points in just 12 minutes of action, including six in a row during a 15-0 second-half scoring run.

It was the first regular-season game between the crosstown schools since Dec. 1, 1984, as Seattle U. had dropped out of the Division I ranks. The Redhawks are moving back up to Division 1 and are playing an independent schedule in this transition year.

Washington (2-2) has won two in a row and will play Sunday in the tournament championship against Clemson (4-2). The Tigers used a 24-6 second-half scoring run to beat Kent State in Friday’s first game, 68-53. Washington will be seeking its fourth consecutive title in its own tournament.

Kent State (3-1) will take on Seattle (1-2) in Sunday’s third-place game.

Breanna Salley poured in a game-high 23 points for the Redhawks, and also had eight rebounds. She was the only Seattle U. player in double figures.

The Huskies jumped to a 10-0 lead, hitting four of their first five shots, while the Redhawks missed their first five and didn’t get onto the scoreboard until 15:04 remained in the half.

Seattle U. was within six points at halftime, 34-28. Salley hit a free throw at the start of the second half to bring the Redhawks within five, at 34-29. But they didn’t score again for more than four minutes, while the Huskies put up 15 consecutive points.

Washington had a 40-29 rebounding advantage, paced by Lydia Young’s seven. Sarah Morton handed out seven assists.

The Huskies now have an all-time 11-3 series lead against Seattle U., including six straight victories. The series dates to 1977.
