MIAMI — For the second week in a row, Seattle Seahawks fullback Leonard Weaver watched from the sidelines as a game was completed.
This time, he wasn’t happy about the circumstances.
Weaver hurt his ribs in the first half, and afterward he said that the injury came when Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder hit him late.
“I was already down, and he speared me in the back,” Weaver said. “I don’t know if it was intentional. He seems like a cool guy, so I don’t think it was intentional. But that’s what happened.”
Crowder was not available for a response, as all the Dolphins players were already out of the Miami locker room when The Herald entered.
Weaver missed last week’s Philadelphia game because of a foot injury he suffered the previous week.
Rookie Owen Schmitt has seen significant playing time in both games, and both Weaver and the coaches said that the fifth-round pick has played well.
