Webster leads Oak Harbor boys basketball over Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD — Led by the play of junior guard Jamacio Webster, Oak Harbor defeated Lynnwood 58-47 in a battle of Wesco 3A teams Saturday night.

Webster had eight of his game-high 15 points in the first quarter and was key in the Wildcats increasing their lead in the third quarter. Ahead 26-23 at halftime, Oak Harbor began to pull away thanks to Websters clutch shooting. Webster hit two 3-pointers to help Oak Harbor outscore Lynnwood 17-11 in the third quarter.

Lynnwood head coach Darrell McNeal said that poor free-throw shooting by his team and strong shooting from the line by the Wildcats in the fourth quarter helped Oak Harbor maintain its lead.

“We were just terrible from the free-throw line,” McNeal said. “We were playing catch up the entire fourth, and couldn’t catch up because of how good they (Oak Harbor) were at the line. It made all the difference.”

Oak Harbor ended up going 11-for-12 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to finish 16-for-22 overall. Lynnwood finished 9-for-20 from the line on the night.

Oak Harbor guard Michael Washington, Jr. finished with 15 points.

Lynnwood junior forward Ryan McArthur led the Royals in scoring with 11.
