RENTON _ Wide receiver Jordan Kent was back on the practice field Wednesday afternoon, one day after being cut by the Seattle Seahawks.
Kent was added to the practice squad Wednesday after turning down offers from several other teams to join their practice squads. He said he did not get claimed for any team’s active roster.
Kent said he did not expect the Seahawks to release him Tuesday.
“Obviously, it was a surprise,” he said, “but at the same time, you just roll with the decision and try to make the best of the opportunity given to you. That opportunity is the practice squad, so I’ll just keep working hard and try to keep improving.”
Kent saw extensive action in the second half of Sunday’s loss to Buffalo after starter Nate Burleson went down with an injury. On Monday, he was considering the possibility of getting his first NFL start in this Sunday’s game at Qwest Field, but 24 hours later, he got cut.
“Obviously, your thinking changes a lot from getting ready for the game,” he said. “But you don’t dwell on it. You just look at it like: what’s the best option for me? And that was the (Seahawks’) practice squad. … I’ve been here, I know the system, and the coaches are familiar with me.”
