Zellweger, Blazers hand Silvertips 3rd straight loss

The former Everett star scores a goal and adds two assists in Kamloops’ 7-1 rout.

EVERETT — Olen Zellweger scored a goal and added two assists against his former team and the Kamloops Blazers beat the Everett Silvertips 7-1 on Wednesday night at Angel of the Winds Arena.

Zellwger, who was acquired by the Blazers in a blockbuster deal on Jan. 8, scored his goal just 21 seconds into the game and set the tone for the rout that ended with Everett’s third consecutive loss.

Eric Jamieson scored on an assist from Jackson Berezowski late in the second period for the Silvertips’ lone goal.

Tyler Palmer started in goal for Everett (30-27-2-1) and made 28 saves on 33 shots. Tim Metzger entered in the third period and stopped nine of the 11 shots he faced.

Fraser Minten, Jakub Demek, Connor Levis, Matthew Seminoff, Ashton Ferster and Harrison Brunicke all added goals for Kamloops (42-11-4-2), and Matthew Kieper made 28 saves.
