Washington Stealth forward Jeff Zywicki earned the National Lacrosse League’s Offensive Player of the Week award today for his nine-point performance in last week’s 12-11 win over Colorado.
Zywicki, who leads the NLL with 35 points this season (13 goals, 22 assists) recorded three goals and six assists Saturday against the Mammoth while helping the Stealth stay unbeaten in their first five games.
The Stealth have relied on Zywicki this season to take over the brunt of the leadership lost via the offseason blockbuster Colin Doyle trade.
“Jeff’s a phenomenal lacrosse player,” Stealth head coach Chris Hall said earlier today during a conference call with league coaches and media. “There’s no doubt about it.
“This year we have a much different look on offense and Jeff’s taken on a bit of a leadership role.”
Washington will be looking for its sixth straight win, and fourth in a row at Comcast Arena, on Friday with an 8 p.m. tilt against the Minnesota Swarm (1-3).
