Marianne LoGerfo, director of the Northshore Senior Center, received the Outstanding Woman of Our Community Award for 2003 from the Bothell-Shoreline American Association of University Women (AAUW) on March 22.
Since being hired by the senior center in 1983, LoGerfo has established the Kirkland, Redmond, and Snoqualmie Food Banks; created the Northshore Woodinville Adult Day Centers and the Woodinville, Kenmore and Mill Creek senior programs. In addition, she has developed the Senior Wellness Project which has been replicated in part or whole in 34 senior centers throughout the state; and recently managed the campaign to pass a $3.9 million Health and Wellness Facility Bond issue to construct a new Adult Day Care Facility adjacent to the Northshore Senior Center.
Bothell City Manager Jim Thompson nominated LoGerfo for this year’s award.
“Public servants often speak of a commitment to serving the public. Marianne does it,” he said at an awards luncheon held in LoGerfo’s honor.
In accepting her award LoGerfo said her accomplishments are really the result of a team effort. “Everything we do, we do together,” she said, crediting her staff, volunteers, organizations and citizens.
