Acclaimed Northwest author Sherman Alexie will visit Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10 discuss his latest book, “Ten Little Indians.”
The Spokane/Coeur d’Alene Indian, now a Seattle resident, is the author of 14 books including 1993’s “The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven” and 1995’s “Reservation Blues.” Alexie co-write the screenplay to the 1998 film “Smoke Signals,” winner of the Sundance Film Festival’s Audience Award and the Filmmakers Trophy. A poet and prolific public speaker, Alexie has had a successful foray into stand-up comedy as well. In 1999, The New Yorker acknowledged Alexie as one of the top writers for the 21st Century.
His most recent collection of short stories, “Ten Little Indians,” offers 11 poignant and emotionally resonant new stories about Native Americans who, like all Americans, find themselves at personal and cultural crossroads that test their loyalties, their capacities, and their notions of who they are and who they love.
