The season for spirituality
At last, we are finally in summer, a time for sunscreen, long days, barbecues and Bible camp for children.
North Creek Presbyterian Church is hosting a summer Bible camp from July 17-21. The camp includes music, games, crafts and small group studies to bring Biblical times in Bethlehem to life.
North Creek Presbyterian Church is located at 621 164th Street SE, in Mill Creek. Camp takes place from 9 a.m. to noon all five days.
Registration is $25. For more information, visit www.northcreekpres.org, call Mary at 425-743-2386 or send e-mail to mary@northcreekpres.org.
Summer reading
Mill Creek’s BYOB (Bring Your Own Book) group usually takes the summer off, but several club members wanted to meet to share what they’re reading and get recommendations for future reading.
That’s why the group is planning to meet at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, July 6 at University Book Store in Town Center. The last time the group met, in May, it met outside on a sunny evening that cooled quickly.
The next meeting could be different. Store manager Josephine Bobbitt says if the weather doesn’t cooperate for the BYOBers to sit outside, she’ll reserve a seating area near the cafe for them. No word on whether or not a free scone is part of the deal.
Got a great novel or non-fiction book you wanna brag about? Call Selma Bonham for more info at 425-379-9515.
Senior center sites
Anyone interested in a possible senior center for Mill Creek should drop by city hall at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 6.
That’s the next meeting of the senior center steering committee, and program director Bill Durham says a presentation about potential sites will be made by former City Councilman John Hudgins, who is heading up the effort’s search for property. One possible site is the Tambark Creek Park site on 35th Avenue SE southeast of the city limits.
For more information about the senior center drive, call Bill Durham at 425-357-6002. Mill Creek City Hall is located at 15728 Main St.
Meet Me in Mill Creek
If you wanna meet me in person, and I hope you do, you can do so at the Meet Me in Mill Creek Festival. The Enterprise will have a table set up at the festival, July 8-9, and I will be there from 1-3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 9. So if you wanna come by and talk about local stuff (story tips always appreciated), national stuff, baseball or whatever, come on by.
Memo to all the 20- and 30-something single babes in Mill Creek: I’m taken. Sorry. But come by anyway!
And just for the record, The Enterprise will have a booth staffed by my most excellent colleagues both days of the festival.
