Terrace approves transport plans
The Mountlake Terrace City Council Nov. 19 approved transportation plans for the short and long-term.
The Transportation Master Plan analyzes long-term transportation needs, including walking, bicycling, transit, and vehicle use, through 2025.
It also recommends a range of improvements, about $17.7 million worth in 2008-2013, for street overlays, sidewalks, bike lanes, and intersection improvements. Other projects would occur in later years. The $17.7 million would come from existing revenue sources and would comprise the city’s new six-year Transportation Program or TIP.
That total nearly triples the amount provided in the previous six-year program. The plan provides a prioritized list of 60 sidewalk improvements. Thosepriorities could be changed in future years, depending on how the criteria are weighted. Sidewalk projects on the list would cost about $10.6 million in current dollars.
