Archbishop Thomas Murphy’s Brenna Rice took first place in the long jump at last week’s Tri-district track and field championships and earned a trip to the Class 1A state meet.
The Wildcat sophomore leapt 33 feet, 23/4 inches to edge King’s junior Breyanne Nordtvedt by 11/4 inches.
Other ATM athletes advancing to the state championships include: Katherine Robinson (second in the 300-meter hurdles, fifth in the 100 hurdles), Teresa Mathias (second in the shot put, second in the javelin), Rachel Krell (third in the discus) and the Wildcats’ 1,600 relay team (third).
On the boys’ side, Peter Sadowski (third in the 100 hurdles, fourth in the triple jump), Steve Alkire (fifth in 300 hurdles), Rob Vandermuelen (fourth in high jump) qualified for state.
The ATM girls team place third overall, while the boys were 10th.
