The topper to a superb senior season arrived just in time for the holidays for Stephanie Augustavo.

The Shoreline native and Bishop Blanchet volleyball standout was named the Class 3A most valuable player in all-state balloting by sportswriters and coaches.

Augustavo led Blanchet to its first state championship since 1991 this season and a 32-5 overall record. She finished the year with 379 kills and 358 digs.

The 5-foot-10 outside hitter was also named MVP of the Metro League Mountain Division and signed with the University of South Florida in November.

Blanchet setter Tori Ross, also of Shoreline, was a second-team, all-state selection.

Two members of the Shorecrest volleyball team that placed fourth at the 3A state tournament and went 21-2 overall also received all-state accolades.

Lauren Herold was a first-team libero. The 5-foot-3 senior collected 378 digs this year and earned first-team, all-league honors the past three seasons.

Senior middle hitter Becky Scherer was an honorable mention selection.

Cascade Conference MVP Sara Mosiman of King’s was a first-team 2A honoree. The junior outside hitter paced the Knights to a third-place finish at state and an 18-4 mark.

In girls soccer, King’s senior Sarah Smart was a second-team 3A forward. Smart plays for Lynnwood and led the Royals in goals.

All-state teams are coordinated by René Ferrán of the Tri-City Herald.
