Bhak earns state berth
Jackson’s Grace Bhak earned the Northwest District 4A’s second state tournament berth with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over teammate Alexandra Platis in the second-place match May 22 at Arlington High School.
Earlier in the tournament, Bhak lost to Kamiak’s Ashley Anderson 6-2, 6-0 in the singles championship match. Platis won two consolation matches to earn her shot at the state tournament.
Jackson’s Mike Reading also will be competing at the Class 4A state boys singles tournament.
T-wolves take 11th overall
Jackson’s boys golf team finished 11th at the Class 4A state golf tournament, which wrapped up May 25 at Canyon Lakes Golf Course in Kennewick. Mike Hansen and Pat Landin finished among the top 40 golfers. This season the Timberwolves won the Egbert, Tom Dolan, Western Conference South Division and Northwest District 4A championships.
Archbishop Murphy’s Ben Waiss finished in eighth place at the Class 1A state boys golf tournament May 25 at Columbia Point Golf Course in Richland.
